    Fabulous

Atmosphere of Al Hoota rest house is excellent and good location for chill out. Enjoyed the stay and impressed with hospitality offered by Hotel staff. In our group with families and friends, everyone had good time here. Egared to visit again and stay for longer period. Extended assistance by Mr. Nouri and team is highly appriciable.

It's not about the rest house itself. But handling of reservations could be improved, as we were forced to cancel confirmed reservation (partly) due to some mis-communication between Booked.net and rest house.

Indian manager was friendly and very helpful. Food was okay.

I could experience Tibet in Oman. Cold and dusty. 8 degrees with two small heaters for the equivalent of $100. Sorry, it doesn't make sense. By the way, Al Hoota Cave, which is the big draw in the region, has been closed for two years but no one is told this.

    Fabulous

    Good "Break-Away" and Relaxed environment.

Suggestion: Brochures available on things to see and places to visit locally. Have to look for someone at Reception to book in and out.

    The location

Very poor management. The whole place is let down and looks like 20 years old. But it's not. We changed rooms 3times because of broken ac / no ac / faucets loose/ no water. And staff surely would have had time to fix that. 4 rooms were taken that night.

    Exceptional

Right at the top of the mountain. Truly unique setting, higher than you might ever stay elswehre. Great views. Finally a cool place after the heat of elsewhere in Oman. Pefrect for visiting nearby Al Hoota Caves. Get there early before the crowds from here. While all the tour parties rush around in convoys of 4x4, plan a holiday here to really unwind within nature and watch the 4x4 crowd rush off home to only miss the sunset and sunrise. Have the whole mountain for your group. Perfect.

You have to eat in the restaurant. It is too far to think of going anywhere else. The food was OK, but pricey.

    Superb

Al Hoota Rest House was chosen because it was near both the Al Hoota Caves and Jebal Shams in the coastal mountains of Oman. The site was awinspiring in it's sense of remoteness. Star gazing at night was truly fantastic! The staff were exceedingly friendly and helpful. They provided wholesome, filling food, in an enthusiastic manner.

    Very good

Big rooms, pretty clean, nice & helpful staff, dinner & breakfast included in a place like that is a great thing since there is nothing around. Nice set up in the middle of the mountains, far away from everything so very quiet. For those who love rest and quiet. We got a chalet with 4 beds which, in reality, are two connecting rooms (you can close the door) with 2 bathrooms. Parking for the car in front of the house.

Not easy to get there if you don't have a gps. The hotel should be more equipped with trekking maps to show you since that is a mountain place where you can do a lot of trekking but need detailed info unless you have bought a guide book.

    Location. Nothing more.

Insufficient water and pressure to shower in the morning; No shower curtain had we needed it; airconditioner in the room did not work (Heat cycle); Dinner was insufficiently warmed so was "cold".

Good location, close to Hoota cave; at the top of the mountain,

Bad installation of bath room; little water. No curtain for window in sunroom. Bed not comfortable with bad quality pillows. TV set does not work.

    Fabulous

The hotel staff was very friendly. I love the efforts they were putting to serve better and the location was perfect for camp fire this month with very cold weather in the night... But we all enjoyed a lot there...

    Good

Accommodation fair and square, food simple but adequate. Ideally situated for wadi-trips, I.E. Wadi Bani Awf. Beautiful spot!

    Beautiful setting

Poor service at the restuarant although they did apologise profusedly for this so perhaps we were just unluck.

No option for solo rooms if traveling alone, in that case too expensive for what it has to offer.

Excellent location for accessing 4WD road to or from Al Rustaq for early starters or late finishers

The staff have been given a tough job but were very helpful under, for them, dififcult circumstances. The hotel was somewhat unfinished in late Dec 2012 when we visited. Water supply was also a major problem - -almost non-existent much of the time. We would recommend it, but only if you need to get accommodation as close as possible to the 4WD road to Al Rustaq. For that it is perfectly located. With a little bit of work to finish it, it would be good! For most, it's better to carry on to Nizwa probably.
